Gym Bag Essentials

Gym Bag Essentials

Let's face it... if you're a regular gym-goer; you've most likely struggled with overpacking or under packing your gym bag. We tend to over do it when it comes to deciding whether or not some of our gym bag possessions, aside from our gym clothes are deemed 'essential' or not. Today we'll give you a list of what we consider to be Gym Bag Essentials.
1. Headphones
This goes with no explanation needed. An essential for any gym experience is a good pair of headphones. Motivating music and quality headphones can certainly make the difference between a subpar workout and an effective one. Be sure to throw a pair of headphones in your bag so you're better prepared for your next session.
2. Reusable Water Bottle
Obviously, staying hydrated is essential during a workout. Having a reusable water bottle on hand mitigates the task of finding a water fountain, purchasing a plastic bottle and/or suffering with zero hydration during a workout. Plus, they're better for the environment and keep your water cooler for longer. That's a win-win in our books!
3. Energy Bars or Protein-Rich Snacks
You may want to keep an energy bar or two in your gym bag for a pre or post-exercise snack. If you have a busy schedule or don't necessarily have time to indulge in a proper fuel-up before your workout, a couple high-carb bars will be perfect. Same thing for afterwards, if you know you won't have a chance to eat a meal shortly after your workout, a high-protein bar will feed your muscles and get your body over that hump until it's time to eat a meal.
4. A Massage Ball or Muscle Roller
These guys are a must have to add to your gym bag. Even a lacrosse ball works great to target specific areas of pain or tense muscle groups after a tough workout. A quick 10-minute roll on those tender spots post-workout will save you a world of hurt in the future. If there's one thing you absolutely need in your gym bag right now; it's a massage ball.
5. Shower Essentials
There's nothing worse than hitting an intense workout, only to marinate in your own sweat afterwards. Having a small makeup bag with some nicely scented shampoo, body wash, toothpaste and a toothbrush will allow you to turn the gym into a 'one-stop-shop'. You can leave straight from the gym to tackle the rest of your tasks in the day without smelling like, or even worse; feeling like gym locker room hand soap!
Excluding your gym clothes & a good pair of runners - these are the items we think you'll need to effectively optimize your workout.
